On March 17, Apple presented the blueprint for the iPhone OS software 3.0 and some majoy updates will be available to iPhone owners in June 2009. The iPhone 3.0 software updates includes the abilities to search your iPhone, cut-copy-and-paste, a landscape keyboard, and push notifications. However, none of these updates were as revolutionary as the new features Apple offered to iPhone application developers.
With a rich set of over 1000 new APIs, iPhone SDK for iPhone OS 3.0 beta provides you with an amazing range of technologies to enhance the functionality of iPhone applications. New APIs also provide support for applications to communicate with hardware accessories attached to iPhone. The iPhone SDK updates for iPhone OS 3.0 includes in app purchase, peer to peer connectivity, apple push notification service and maps.

The most innovational feature is considered as the in app purchase because of the large potential opportunities that it presents to both developers and users. iPhone users have already ownloaded over 800 million applications, but the interaction between developers and users has always been ended after users finished the app downloading. But with this feature, users are allowed to purchase content or service from the application using the store kit framework. This new framework handles the financial aspects of the transaction, processes payment with the iTunes Store, and provides information about in app purchase to developers. For example, developers will be able to sell an application once, then sell upgrades through the application itself. Apple used three examples of how that might work: Magazines could sell subscriptions to content downloaded over time, game developers could sell additional levels and add-ons for their games, and publishers of travel guides could sell information for individual cities.

Although more and more users are going to download the app, but they are expecting to get the great iPhone app at a cheap price or for free and there are no reasons for them to come back to developer for more after they purchased the app. So it is hard for developers to make a living upon creating iPhone apps. The ability to sell within applications will help developers solve this problem. Nowadays, more and more transactions has been moving away from the desktop to the mobile, it will be more convenient for users to purchase goods and on-demands services within the app and a long-term relationship can be built up by this model.Developers can make sustainable income from each app that has a smaller base of committed customers. It’s no longer just the purchasing of goods, but also of services.

But, will it be perfect for developers?

Of cause, those one million folks in China who have jailbreak iPhones will not download from the Apple app store. But where?

What I found out, lots of people are using an desktop tool to download illegal copies of English iPhone apps.

Here is an new idea: the competitor or App Store.

As the result, making money by selling games and small apps in China will face a challenge. ExtendLogic’s interest is to help app publishers to release their IPs free with embedded ads in it. The questions is, can it make enough money from the ads? Maybe not a big money for lots of developers, but better than nothing.

Until now, we have accomplished the objective of onsite SEO, which aiming at keyword-optimizing your content, effective content creation, and strategic cross-linking. As we all know, SEO is a numbers game. Each web page can effectively target one or two phrases well. Rather than shooting for one key phrase that ranks number one, strive to have many key phrases that rank high. As for the ExtendLogic website, our marketing team is going to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of our key words which contain “China” “iPhone” “outsourcing and consulting”, and “Smartphone”. Finding the best keyword phrases to target is an iterative process. In the end, we’ll get more leads since our keyword reach will be higher. How to write the landing page for our iPhone business?

Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook | Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon | Submit to Reddit reddit

Recently, ExtendLogic Marketing Team is inputting its efforts to continue the search engine marketing campaign for our IT outsourcing and consulting business; especially for iPhone development business because iPhone app development is a hotspot in U.S. and iPhone will be formally released in China market soon. Since I am in charge of marketing tasks, I’ve spent some time to analyze how to write an efficient landing page these days and I would like to share some of my thoughts with all of you.

Basically, the purpose of landing page is to convert the clicks into inquiries. All the messages on the landing page are made to convince customers that you are the right partner for them to extend their business and leave their contact information by filling in the ”contact us” form.

So, the content is the most important segment for landing page. I would like to take our iPhone landing page as an example to explain my thoughts.

I believe that the time for all business men who visit our website are very valuable and nobody want to spend too much time to read a long story. So we need to state everything in short. Simply list what we can do on iPhone, highlight what client can benefit from it (cost-effective as our delivery centers in China) without too many fancy words, show visitors what iPhone app we have done.

No need to use too many fantastic iPhone pictures, instead of that, we should use 1-2 screenshots of our previous iPhone project, which is considered as the best way to prove our iPhone capability.

Provide visitors the inquiry form on landing page so that they can get everything done one-stop. I think it is very important to protect users’ privacy, so let users know that their privacy information will never be disclosed to others and we will not be sending SPAM to them. But you can ask them whether they want to receive our newsletters about iPhone in the future.

Make the landing page be highly relevant to PPC keywords. For example, one keyword we used for iPhone PPC is “iPhone China”, then “iPhone” and “China” should be shown on our iPhone landing page and the content should be addressed about doing iPhone business in China OR with China team. That will let user has a feeling of they are at the right place for what they look for.

Express your appreciation for their visits and inquiries. Let them know when and who from your firm will get back to them.

The main point is that to make everything as simple as possible, but don’t forget to follow up!

Please refer to our iPhone landing page http://www.extendlogic.com/IndustrySolutions/iPhone and share your thoughts with me.
